CHIM: A web biography of David Seymour | |
David Seymour "Chim" The Early Years: 1933-1939 is made possible largely through the efforts of Chim's sister, Eileen Shneiderman, and her son, Ben Shneiderman, who have donated many of their carefully preserved collection of Chim's photographs to the ICP. Christopher Phillips is the Exhibition Researcher. In addition, the helpful comments and observations concerning the artist's life by the Director of the International Center of Photography, Cornell Capa, are greatly appreciated. We are especially grateful for the comments contributed by Maria Eisner Lehfeld, Leo Sauvage, Samuel Shneiderman, and Richard Whelan. We are indebted to Elizabeth Gallin and Barbara Koppelman for their aid in facilitating research into the negatives and clippings, and to Miles Barth, Curator of the Museum's Archives and Collections.
David Seymour "Chim" The Early Years, 1933-1939, is the ninth in a series of traveling exhibitions from ICP's Permanent Collection. Research, preparation, publications and circulation of this series are assisted by generous grants from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. Additional generous support for this exhibition was made possible by the Henry M. Margolis Foundation.
